Consider buying a few extra school supplies for needy kids
MONROE — The Sacred Heart Parish Community Outreach Program is collecting school supplies for the more then 50 families who use its food pantry and have children attending local schools.
Program officials are hopeful people can add a few extra school items to the supplies they’re already buying for their own children, particularly now that area stores are holding back-to-school sales.
Supplies in need are marble composition notebooks, pencils, pens, colored markers, glue sticks, loose-leaf paper, two pocket folders and highlighters.
Also needed are backpacks, colored pencils, scissors, dry erase markers, quart and gallon sized Ziploc bags, soft pencil cases, tissues, clipboards, rulers, tape, paper towels, spiral notebooks and one inch binders and dividers.
All items can be delivered to the Sacred Heart Parish office on Still Road in Monroe, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. or to the vestibule of Sacred Heart Church, which is open daily.
