Tuxedo receives $50,000 state grant for town hall renovations

TUXEDO — The Town of Tuxedo has been awarded a $50,000 grant for the renovation of community space at Town Hall, state Sen. John J. Bonacic announced.

The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2017-18 state budget.

The project includes the upgrade of the Town Hall to accommodate community groups who currently use the facility as a community center.

The work will consist of upgrading the bathrooms, paint, storage, flooring, finishes and seating areas.

“Not only will this grant provide the community with an updated space for meetings," Bonacic said in the press release detailing the funding, "it will save them money in the long run.”

"The Town of Tuxedo is excited to be able to renovate the Town Hall Community Room, which serves both our senior citizens as well as our volunteer organizations for meetings, gatherings and recreation events," Town Supervisor Michael Rost said. "We are looking forward to a new kitchenette, a safer fire exit and handicap ramp as well as proper storage for regularly used items.”
