Quakers thwart Crusaders 13-10 in boys varsity lacrosse

CHAPPAQUA — The Crusaders traveled to Chappaqua on Saturday, April 7, to face the Quakers of Horace Greeley High School. They entered the game having won their season opener on Wednesday 19-10 against the Sawyers of Saugerties.

The Crusaders and the Quakers traded goals in the first quarter with Danny Fitzpatrick scoring three of his five goals on the day as the two teams were tied at the end of the first quarter 3-3.

In the second quarter the Quakers were able to take a one-goal lead as the teams went to the half 5-4.

In the third quarter the Quakers stretched their lead, but Jack Dembia kept the Crusaders in the game scoring three of his four goals and the period ended with the score 11-8 in favor of the Quakers.

In the finale quarter the Crusaders battled to the end, but the Quakers answered every score with one of their own.

The 13-10 loss brings the Crusaders' record to 1-1.

Their next game is scheduled for Friday the 13 at home against the Presidents of Hyde Park.
