M-W Indoor Track sends 23 athletes to state championship


Monroe-Woodbury High School will be sending 23 athletes, including 17 members of the Girls Varsity Track and Field Team, to the New York State High School Indoor Track and Field Championship meet at the Ocean Breeze complex in Staten Island on Saturday, March 3.

STATEN ISLAND — The New York State High School Indoor Track and Field Championship meet will be conducted at the Ocean Breeze complex in Staten Island on Saturday, March 3. Monroe-Woodbury High School will be sending 23 athletes who qualified in 18 events at the meet held last weekend.
In order to qualify, an individual athlete must have placed first or second in the qualifying meet or placed third and have exceeded a qualifying standard during the current season.
Relay teams must place first in the meet or place second and exceed the qualifying standard during the current season.
Additionally, third place finishers in 300m, 600m, 1000m and 1500m runs will be on a special intersectional relay team.
The following athletes will be going to the NYS Championship meet:
Girls• Lisa Jacobsen: 55m Hurdles, first in a time of 8.85
• Angela Fini: 600m Run, third (Intersectional Relay) in a time of 1:43.2
• Daniella Napoli: 1000m Run, second in a time of 3:03.6
• Margaret Ryan: 1500m Racewalk, first in a time of 7:47.1
• Jessica Pidgeon: 3000m Run, second in a time of 10:39.6
• Katie Conter, Angela Iaccarrino, Aysa Jeune, Emilie Nasca and Amelia Giraud: 4X400m Relay, first in a time of 4:05.6
• Jody Smith, Teyha Harvey, Nia Slaughter and Rachel Gutierrez: 4X200m Relay, second in a time of 1:45.8
• Kristin Lubeskie: Pole Vault, second with a vault of 12-00
• Gabrielle Nebiker: Pole Vault, third with a vault of 10-06
• Eyram Agbeli: Triple Jump, second with a jump of 36-03.25
Boys• Richmond Boateng: 55m Hurdles, third in a time of 7.82
• Jeremy Veras: 300m Dash, second in a time of 37.29
• Richmond Boateng: 600m Run, fourth (Intersectional Relay – third finisher qualified by time standard) in a time of 1:25.2
• Trevor Ladue: 1000m Run, third in a time of 2:38.23
• Joshua Jeong: Pole Vault, third with a vault of 13-06
• Owen Kelly: Long Jump, second with a jump of 20-11.25
• Owen Kelly: Triple Jump, second with a jump of 43-09.25
• Nicholas Villanueva: Triple Jump, third with a jump of 43-07.75
