Firearms Safety Expert Jimmy Cosenza: Ammunition
Is it safe to use any ammunition in your fire arm as long as it fits the chamber?
No. you must always check the head stamp on the ammunition to confirm that it matches the caliber or gauge marking placed on the firearm by the manufacturer. Some ammunition doesn't have marking on the head stamp of the cartridge, so you must check the original ammunition packaging to determine its caliber. If there is no clear designation you must check with a licensed gun smith.
