GOSHEN — On Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17, the Crusaders traveled to John S. Burke Catholic to take on the Eagles in the last game of the regular season.

The Crusaders entered the contest having narrowly defeated the Goldbacks of Newburgh on Thursday night to secure a spot in the OCIAA playoffs.

In an exciting first quarter the Crusaders and Eagles exchanged baskets and the lead and ended up tied at 16.

The Eagles defense picked up in the second quarter and held the Crusaders to eight points as they built a 12-point margin and took a 36-24 lead at the half.

In the third quarter the Crusaders offense got untracked again, scoring 16 but they were unable to cut into the Eagles lead as the two teams traded baskets and the score stood at 54-40 at the end of the quarter.

In the final period the Eagles held off the Crusaders as the two teams mixed it up a little and spent a lot of time on the foul line as a result.

The Crusaders' 65-53 loss to the Eagles brings their season record to 10-10 and 3-5 in OCIAA Division 1 play.

The OCIAA will hold its playoff meeting on Thursday to determine the seedings and playoff brackets.
