TUXEDO — Tuxedo School District officials also stressed the events in Parkland, Florida, only reinforce the safety and security measures the district has put into place for years remain critically important.
"Procedures and protocols are followed upon entry into our buildings, as well as trainings and drills to address multiple emergency situations," said Superintendent Nancy Teed. "These precautionary measures are continually updated with added security layers that are implemented annually."
Like other districts, Tuxedo keeps the details of its safety and security plan confidential.
"The district works closely with the Town of Tuxedo Police Department and drills are also completed in conjunction with tactical teams from Orange County," Teed said. "The sad reality is that security and safety measures need to be assessed often and evaluated for overall effectiveness as situations change with the times."
