How often do you need to clean your firearm?

As a general rule it is best to clean your weapon after very use, particularly if you use it regularly, this way you can be sure to see that no premature barrel wear or pitting is occurring. Firearms need to be protected against moisture more than anything else because it being mainly metal the introduction of moisture leads to rust which weakens metal and can lead to malfunction.
