CENTRAL VALLEY — On Friday, Jan. 26, at Monroe-Woodbury High School, the Crusaders hosted the Tigers of Kingston in a OCIAA Division 1 league match.

In a brief pregame ceremony, Head Coach John Gartiser and Assistant Coaches Dave Colabella and Rob Kelly honored the five seniors on the team and their parents.

The match started at 99 lbs. weight class where the Crusaders won by forfeit but the Tigers tied the score when they recorded a pin at 106 lbs.

That's when the Crusaders took over the match and won the next seven bouts in a row.

First Crusaders Dylan Earl at 113 lbs, Jake Minnies at 120 lbs and Marco Vespa at 126 lbs. recorded pins before Max Wernicki at 132 lbs. took a 12-2 decision.

After Joe McGinty at 138 lbs. recorded a pin, the Crusaders took the 145 lbs. and 152 lbs. bouts by forfeit.

The Tigers got back on the score board when they took the 160 lbs. bout 17-9.

But the Crusaders answered when Mike Paravati at 170 lbs. won a 16-0 tech fall and Lex Lendoff at 182 lbs. recorded a pin.

The Crusaders and Tigers exchanged forfeits at 195 lbs. and 220 lbs. before Crusader Preston Havison at 285 lbs. ended the match with a pin.

The Crusaders' 69-16 victory over the Tigers brings their season record to 8-2.
