CENTRAL VALLEY — Last Thursday night, Jan. 11, the Crusaders hosted the Dragons of Cornwall in a non-league girls varsity basketball game.

The Dragons entered the game with a 6-3 record and the Crusaders at 4-4.

The Dragons got off to a 11-8 first quarter lead by hitting three three-points shots.

But in the second quarter the Crusaders stormed right back with Taylor Neely scoring six points to take the half time lead 22-20.

After the halftime break, the Crusader defense took over and held the Dragons to only three points in the third period and six in the fourth as they slowly pulled away for a 36-29 victory.

Jamie Waldron scored nine of her game-high 15 points in the second half to lead the Crusader offense.

The victory brings the team's record to 5-4 on the season. Their next game was scheduled for Jan. 17 at home against the Middies of Middletown.
