Andrew G. Hamacek, longtime resident of Highland Mills, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 90 years old.

The son of John and Katy (Zamboraski) Hamazki, he was born in Central City, Pa., on Dec. 20, 1927.

Andrew was the widower of Dolores R. (Zell) Hamacek, who passed away just a month ago, in November 2017.

Andrew was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He was a custodian for Ramapo Schools in Suffern.

He was a member of Harriman VFW Post #8858 and the American Legion Post #488 in Monroe.

Andrew was predeceased by his five brothers and six sisters.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 6 at St. Anastasia Shrine Church in Harriman.

Interment followed in St. Anastasia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anastasia Shrine Church, 21 North Main Street, Harriman, NY 10926.
