CENTRAL VALLEY — On Thursday night, Dec. 21, the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders hosted the Middletown High School Middies in a OCIAA Division 1 varsity boys basketball game.

The Crusaders jumped out to a 15-10 first quarter lead with Jermain Veras knocking down two three-point shots.

But the second quarter was all Middies as they outscored the Crusaders 16-4 and took a 26-19 lead into the half.

The Crusaders offense woke up in the third quarter and scored 15 with senior Brandon Adams scoring five of his 17 points in the game. But the team was unable to cut into the Middletown lead.

In the final quarter, the Crusaders scored eight of their 11 points from the free throw line but it was not enough to catch the Middletown.

The Crusaders' 55-45 loss to the Middies brings their record to 4-3 on the season.

Their next game will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Red Hook High School at 5:45 p.m.
