State police arrested a Monroe man after an investigation found he was allegedly working as a psychiatrist without a license and posing as an FBI agent.
Police also arrested a Lake Peekskill woman for allegedly helping him.
Elder Talentino, also known as Elder Talentino, 53, of Monroe, and Margaret Patterson, also known as Charlene Patterson, 79, of Lake Peekskill, are both charged with unauthorized practice of a profession, an educational law felony.
A joint investigation with Orange County Child Protective Services and Orange County Fraud found that Charlene Patterson, a licensed master of social work, was aiding and abetting Talentino, who was purporting to be both a psychologist and psychiatrist with a doctoral degree.
Police say Talentino was treating clients without a license and worked with Patterson in offices at 124 Main St. in the Village of Chester and The Center for ADHD at 32 South St. in the Village of Washingtonville.
The investigation also found that Talentino was allegedly pretending to be an FBI agent as well.
Additional charges are pending, according to police.
Anyone with information regarding Talentino and Patterson is asked to contact the Orange County Child Abuse Unit at 845-291-2810. All calls will be kept confidential.
