M-W Hockey Alumni Game scheduled for Thanksgiving Saturday

NEWBURGH — The Monroe-Woodbury Hockey Alumni Game will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. at the IceTime Sports Complex in Newburgh.
All proceeds for the game will help support the M-W Varsity Hockey Program.
The program faced elimination last year, but the local hockey community rallied to keep it alive by coming to an agreement with the Monroe-Woodbury School Board to help fund the program through these types of fund-raising events.
"It’s always fun to get the former players together on the ice, and it’s great to see them come out to support the present team, and of course, the future of the program," said Coach Frank "Lefty" Alessandrino. “There aren’t many high school sports that get together for alumni games and this one takes on even more meaning.
“Since we were given the opportunity to help fund the program," the coach added, "the former players are happy to give back to help sustain the program that meant so much to them while they were in school.”
