In addition to candidates running for local and county offices, Tuesday's ballot also contains three state propositions.

You will find these on the back of your ballot.

• All voters in the Town of Monroe have a fourth proposition regarding the separation and creation of the new Town of Palm Tree.

• And Monroe voters within the boundaries of the Monroe Free Library (largely all of the town except the Village of Kiryas Joel) will have an opportunity to vote on a fifth proposition regarding the library's budget.

You will also find these on the back of your ballot. Here's what you will see:

The proposed amendment would create a land account of up to 250 acres of forest preserve land eligible for use by towns, villages and counties that have no viable alternative to using forest preserve land to address specific public health and safety concerns; as a substitute for the land removed from the forest preserve, another 250 acres of land will be added to the preserve, subject to legislative approval. The proposed amendment would also allow bicycle trails and certain public utility lines to be located within the width of specified highways that cross the forest preserve while minimizing the removal of trees and vegetation?
