TUXEDO — Students from the George Grant Mason School in Tuxedo participated in a Walkathon Friday, Oct. 20, to raise money to aid the victims of the recent hurricanes.

The Tuxedo Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) sponsored the event with the intent of bringing the students and the community together.

Flyers were distributed to local businesses and students raised money through donation pledge forms.

The Walkathon was supported by the administration, teachers and parents with students walking around the school grounds with a decorated banner reflecting their grade.

This fund-raising effort was the largest ever achieved by the students and community in the history of the school with $4,500 collected and still counting.

All of the donations will be equally distributed between Helping Hands US and UNICEF to benefit the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
