Sept. 11 ceremony to be held at 9/11 Memorial Gazebo

MONROE — The Village of Monroe will host its annual Sept. 11 Candle Light Memorial Service at the 9/11 Memorial Gazebo on Monday, Sept. 11, beginning at 7 p.m. with an honor guard procession.

The ceremony honors the memory of the Monroe community members who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Several local fire companies, law enforcement, veterans groups, scout troops and emergency responders will be involved in the ceremony.

Mayor James Purcell will read the names of those who died on Sept. 11. The reading of each name will be followed by a ringing of the bell and a moment of reflection.
