Graduations Samantha Ampel, a native of Monroe, graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College’s School of Communications with a degree in Communication, Management and Design.

Julia Arras of Tuxedo Park has received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University in Utah.

The following students are graduates for May 2017 at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi:

Kelsey Esselman of Harriman, who earned a bachelor’s in Business and Technology Management.

Max Flicker-Podberesky of Monroe, who earned an associate’s in Electrical Construction and Instrumentation.

William McCarron of Highland Mills, who earned an associate’s in Integrated Energy Systems, cum laude.

Dean’s List Darrien Pulos-Rooney of Monroe was named to the 2017 Dean’s List at Union College in Schenectady. Pulos-Rooney is a member of the Class of 2017, majoring in psychology.

To qualify, Union students must have a grade point average of 3.5 for the entire academic year and meet certain other requirements.

The following students have been cited for academic achievement for the Spring 2017 semester by achieving the Dean’s List at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi.

Ryan McCarron of Highland Mills, who is pursuing an associate’s degree in Refrigeration and Plumbing.

William McCarron of Highland Mills, who is pursuing an associate’s degree in Integrated Energy Systems.

Ashley Callahan of Harriman, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts.

Kelsey Esselman of Harriman, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business and Technology Management.

Sam Flicker-Podberesky of Monroe, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management: Design and Build.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must have an academic average of 3.50 or higher within the semester.

The following students were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2017 semester at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh:

Stephanie Brown of Monroe.

Caitlin Chambers of Harriman.

Philip Cleary of Harriman.

The Dean’s List distinction is awarded each semester to students who have carried at least 12 graded credits with a minimum semester GPA of 3.5.

Sara Wernick of Highland Mills was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2017 semester at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Minneapolis. To qualify, a student must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.

The following students were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2017 semester at Ithaca College:

Honors, awards, programs Paige Drews of Monroe was inducted into the Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Sigma Alpha Iota is a music fraternity for women that strives to promote the development and growth of music across campus and even across the world. The sisters of SAI serve as volunteer ushers for various events sponsored by Susquehanna University’s Department of Music. The organization’s projects and events are all music-oriented and have included fund raisers for VH1’s Save the Music organization. Chapter membership is open to students of all majors.

Drews is a creative writing major in the Class of 2020. A 2016 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, she is the daughter of Richard and Lauren Drews.

Brittany Sullivan of Monroe, a student at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., traveled to Brazil and Argentina this summer as part of the university’s largest group of student travelers in university history. With more than 650 students participating in 34 programs, including Maymester trips, students will spend time in Greece, Brazil, England, France, Switzerland and Haiti, among many other locations.
