Glenmere Brewing Company hops to second anniversary

FLORIDA— A few great things brewing in Orange County: thriving local businesses, famously fertile soil and a booming craft beer scene.
Glenmere Brewing Company celebrates its second anniversary this May and will be among the five local watering holes on Dirt’s Brew Hop, a bus-led tasting tour of the Black Dirt region’s breweries on Saturday, June 9.
Glenmere Brewing Co. is a family-run operation — even the kids are in on it.
“Instead of playing kitchen, my daughter plays bartender,” said Shanna Sandor, who owns and operates the brewery alongside her husband, Michael. While their little girl plays barkeep, their son relishes in picking juniper for their Nordic Farm ale, named after the family’s Norwegian roots.
Shanna and Michael were home brewers for ten years before opening up Glenmere in May 2016. Just last year they won two prestigious gold medals at the 2017 Best of Craft Beer Awards in Bend, Oregon.
Now, they’re sharing their gold-standard suds with the public, such as their raspberry stout, infused with home-grown berries.
The couple’s favorite batch on tap? Dark Shadow, a rustic cream lager with rich malt and notes of chocolate.
