  • The Rev. Richard Robÿn is then new rector of St. Mary's-In-Tuxedo Episcopal Church.

— The Rev. Richard Robÿn has been appointed rector of St. Mary's-In-Tuxedo Episcopal Church.

Robÿn is the church's 12th rector and comes to the church from Philadelphia.

Robÿn began his studies at the General Theological Seminary in New York City, where he earned a master of divinity degree in 2007. He served his seminary internship at the Church of the Transfiguration, where he helped organize a mission trip to New Orleans to help in the Hurricane Katrina clean-up efforts.

He was ordained to the priesthood at Transfiguration in 2008.

Robÿn's first assignment as a deacon and then priest was as curate at the Church of the Resurrection in Manhattan. After two years there, he became rector at Trinity Church Oxford in Philadelphia. Trinity is one of the nation's oldest churches, with roots going back to 1698.

In the Diocese of Pennsylvania, Robÿn also served as vice-chair of Diocesan Council, as well as on the Commission on Ministry, and on the boards of Episcopal Community Services and the Philadelphia Protestant Home, and was active in his local interdenominational ministry.

Robÿn is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was first introduced to the Episcopal Church during his studies at Loyola University, New Orleans, while he earned a bachelor's degree in history. It was in visiting the homebound with the Holy Communion that Robÿn first felt the call to ordained ministry.

Outside of his work as a priest, Robÿn has a passion for history and historic preservation, music, travel, and gardening - including raising chickens. He is also a member of the Union League of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and several local historical societies.

He and his husband Pete Datos, who is the chief supply chain officer for Warby Parker in New York City and Sloatsburg, have said they look forward to being a part of the Tuxedo community.
