TUXEDO — Charlie Jones, a lifelong resident of Tuxedo, was honored June 5 by his fellow fire commissioners and chiefs for his 50 years of service to the Tuxedo Joint Fire District.

Jones joined the Tuxedo Park Fire Department on June 1, 1967.

Since then, he has served the Tuxedo Park Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and as president from 1984-1986.

He served the Tuxedo Joint Fire District as district chief from 1977-1979 and has been a fire commissioner since 1980.

He is currently the chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners.

Jones also is an honorary member of the Sterling Forest Volunteer Fire Company.

"Charlie’s dedicated service and contribution to the volunteer fire service and the community," the commissioners and chiefs said in a press release announcing the recognition, "has measurably enhanced the reputation of the Fire District in the Town of Tuxedo and neighboring communities throughout Orange County in the State of New York."
