Harriman to dedicate playground in Edward B. Shuart Jr.'s memory

HARRIMAN — The Village of Harriman Board of Trustees will dedicate the playground behind the Village Hall as the Edward B. Shuart Jr. Memorial Playground on Saturday, June 17, at 10 a.m.

Shuart, who died June 23, 2016, was a trustee for the Village of Harriman for 15 years. He also served as deputy mayor.

Years before, Shuart served in the Vietnam War as a platoon leader and he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Shuart was a former member of the Harriman Parks and Recreation Committee and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

He worked at Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc., for 40 years.
