Crusaders fall to Pine Bush in extra innings, 8-7

MONROE — The Crusaders lost a tough one in extra innings Tuesday to the Bushmen of Pine Bush, 8-7.

The Bushmen got out to a five run lead in the top of the fourth but the Crusaders came right back and scored three in the bottom of the inning on a Drew Jemison three-run home run to left.

The Crusaders took the lead in the fifth when they scored three more runs, again the key hit in the inning was provided by Jemison who drove in a run with double to right.

In the top of the seventh, Pine Bush scored a run to tie the score at 6-6. The Crusaders made it exciting in the bottom of the inning, when Jemison tried to score from second on single by Kyle Eskildsen. He was thrown out at the plate.

In the top of the 11th, the Bushmen scored twice. The Crusaders rallied one more time and scored on a single by Jemison, pulling to within one run of the Bushmen, but that was as close as they would come. The tying run was on third when the last out was recorded.

Jemison had a big day, recording three hits, including a home run and a double, and five RBIs. Kyle Eskildsen picked up four hits on the day.

The loss brings the Crusaders' record to 15-4 on the season, 7-4 in OCIAA Division 1 play.

Seniors honoredBefore the game Tuesday, Head Coach Christopher Vero paid tribute to the his seniors and their families. They were given flowers, autographed baseballs and signs made by the cheerleading team.
