Ruth A. Buchanan of Monroe passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 13, 2017. She was 89 years old.

The daughter of Clarkson M. Buckmaster and the late Ruth E. Norris Buckmaster, she was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Middletown.

Ruth was a retired clerk with Sloatsburg Hardware of Sloatsburg. She also was a member of American Legion Post #488 Ladies Auxiliary of Monroe.

She was the widow of George A. Buchanan, who passed away in 1981.

Survivors include her sons: John R. Buchanan of Ellenville, Daniel L. Buchanan of Dayton, Nevada, and Gary A. Buchanan of Monroe; her three grandchildren: Lucas, Benita and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Arlene D. Buchanan, her brother William “Bill” Buckmaster, her sisters Dorothy “Dot” Stephenson and Evelyn “Evie” Price, and her longtime companion Ronald Sullivan.

A memorial service will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
