  • Goalie Dan Dorney is this week's Monroe-Woodbury High School "Athlete of the Week."

— Dan Dorney, a member of the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Hockey team coached by Frank Alessandrino, is the high school's “Athlete of the Week” for the period ending Feb. 17.

Dan has been a four-year player for the Varsity Hockey Team.

"He has been the goalie for all 6 of our wins this year," Monroe-Woodbury Athletic Director Lori Hock said in the press release announcing the selection. "He opened the season with a stellar performance against top-rated Clarkstown, letting two goals late in the third period while stopping well more than 50 shots. Dan is a very hard worker who practices all week even during the off season."

Dan also received honors from MSG Varsity Morning Skate this week. He was voted best Flow (hairdo) of any hockey player in the Tri-state area.
