CENTRAL VALLEY — Mike Tobey of Monroe, coming off a great season by the University of Virginia basketball team, stopped by Monroe-Woodbury High School recently to meet with the Junior Crusaders.

He answered questions from second- and third-grade basketball players, who requested a couple of slam dunks.

Tobey was happy to do.
Tobey is a graduate of Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J. He is a sophomore at the University of Virginia, where he played in 37 games this season, including 28 starts.

At 6-11, Tobey plays center and forward for the Virginia Cavaliers, whose season ended with a two-point Sweet Sixteen defeat to Michigan State in the NCAA tournament.

Tobey also helped Team USA to the gold medal at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championships in Prague, Czech Republic.
