Monroe Police and Ambulance Corps host child passenger safety workshop Dec. 10

Monroe The Monroe Police Department, in conjunction with the Monroe Ambulance Corps, will conduct a child passenger safety event on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Monroe Ambulance Corps building located at 100 Ramapo St. in Monroe.
For four hours, police officers who are nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will share their skills and knowledge with parents and caregivers. These officers will inspect car seats and teach parents the proper way of installing safety seats and ensuring that children are riding in the safest way possible.
Inspections will be conducted on a firs- come, first-served basis, and no appointments are necessary.
People attending should come in their vehicle, bring the seats they currently use, and the children who ride in them.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that when child safety seats are properly used, they reduce fatalities by 71 percent for infants and 59 percent for booster-age children.
