Next year starts today

CENTRAL VALLEY — On Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2, the Monroe-Woodbury Parents Football Club held its annual luncheon at Falkirk Country Club.
The luncheon is held each year to honor and celebrate the Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman football teams.
Freshman Head Coach Pat Tierney talked about his team's season and gave out awards to the freshman team players.
Likewise, JV Head Coach Joe Pesce talked about his team's season and gave awards to the JV team players.
The guest speaker was ex-Crusader Captain and ex-Army football player Packy Laird.
Varsity Head Coach Ryan Baldock addressed the gathering and talked about the team's season. He also presented the varsity awards:
• Richard Monda - “Rookie of the Year;”
• Mikey Boyle - “Special Teams Player of the Year;"
• Alex Jaoshvili - “Most Improved Player;”
• Jayden Prina - “Trenchman of the Year;"
• John Braunagel - “Played the Game with Heart;”
• Tyler Toledo - “Best Defensive Player;”
• Danny Abrahams - “Best Offensive Player;”
• Steven Campione - “Most Valuable Player;”
• Zack Vanier - “Good Citizen.”
• Campione was also given the Tom Kennedy Monroe-Woodbury Parents Football Club Scholarship.
• Toledo was awarded the Micheal J. Finnegan Scholarship.
The Crusaders finished the season with a 6-4 record and played in the section 9 Title game.
But next year starts today and the Crusaders will have their work cut out for them as they try to replace the 30 seniors that they will loose to graduation this year.
