Robert I. Schochet
Robert I. Schochet of Highland Mills, died Friday, July 29, 2016 at home with his wife at his side. He was 80.
Born July 10, 1936, in Astoria and raised in Brooklyn, he was the son of Harold and Claire (Cutler) Schochet.
Bob served in the Reserves during the 1950’s. He was a resident and active community member of Highland Mills for more than 40 years.
He was a recognized and published freelance cartoonist working from home.
As a stay at home dad with his two daughters, Bob was very involved in school and summer activities and was an avid follower of his daughters through their many activities.
Most notably, Bob was a well known and loved cross country and track dad throughout eight years of teams at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
He never went to a meet without Peanut Chews for the whole team and enjoyed making friends and timing races.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda Schochet at home; daughters Tamara Turcott of Rochester and Tiffany Schochet-Jones and her husband Doug of Suffern and their sons, Colten and Trent Jones; mother-in-law Martha Cocke of Chester; sisters, Dorothy Feinstein and Arlene Bronzo both of the state of Florida; nieces Jan and Lisa and nephews Michael and David as well as their respective families.
Bob was predeceased by both his parents and son-in-law Billy Turcott.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 8, from 3 to 4 p.m., at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen.
The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. with Rabbi Endre Stamler officiating.
Burial will be private in Cemetery of The Highlands in Highland Mills.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
