An open letter to the people of Monroe from Karl Brabenec

I ask you to keep an open mind and an open heart as your read this letter. This election year has had many positives and negatives. A big positive is that I have had the opportunity to speak with many residents of the 98th Assembly District about my performance for the past two years and many people have approved of the job I am doing.
The main negative is that I haven't been able to connect in this way with most residents of Monroe and I want to do all I can to change this perception.
I have always felt that open honest communication is the key to solving many problems in life.
Unfortunately, the primary campaign was very heated and negative rhetoric and misinformation from our daily newspaper, Facebook, Twitter and many local blogs, helped to ruin relationships and cause many misconceptions about me, my character and my intentions as a state legislator.
It is important to me to try and correct this inaccurate viewpoint.
I am the father of two beautiful children and I want to see the best for them and all of the members of the next generation.
New York has been broken for a very long time and I want to help create a future in this state where everyone can easily find a high paying job, be able to get a great education, and be able to afford to live here.
I want to protect and improve our quality of life. Every single vote I have taken and every bill I have sponsored has tried to move us closer to that goal.
In the past two years, I have voted for tax cuts 27 times, I sponsored legislation to provide county oversight over the current and any future annexations, I'm a sponsor of the Blue Lives Matter bill that would strengthen penalties against those who harm our law enforcement officials and first responders, I was able to bring a $2,500 grant to the Village of Monroe to help purchase an electronic public information sign for village hall, and my office has continually searched for grant money to repair some of Monroe's aging water and sewer systems.
Contrary to what you may have heard, I really do care about Monroe, as I care about all of the municipalities in my district. My door is always open and I always try to make myself and my staff available to you. I want to keep fighting for you and helping in whatever way I can and that is why I humbly ask you to give me another chance.
I take great pride in this position. It is the honor of my life to serve you and I promise to always keep communication open and to keep an open mind on everything that comes before me. I hope that I can have your vote on Tuesday, November 8th.
    Sincerely,
    Karl Brabenec
    Assemblyman, 98th District
    Westbrookville
